About the Game
What is Anubis Knows: Footballers? It's a free browser-based guessing game. Think of any footballer, real or retired, and answer a series of yes-or-no questions. Our mascot, Anubis, will try to guess who you're thinking of in around 16 questions or fewer.
How does Anubis guess so accurately? Anubis doesn't use AI or an internet connection to guess. Instead, the game runs a custom-built logic engine, entirely in your browser, that narrows down candidates from our footballer database based on your answers. Each question is chosen specifically because it splits the remaining possibilities as evenly as possible, which is how the game converges on an answer quickly.
Does the game use artificial intelligence? No. Anubis Knows: Footballers does not call any external AI service while you play. The entire guessing engine runs locally in your browser using a static database and a question-selection algorithm. This makes the game fast, free, and private.
Why did Anubis guess wrong? A few reasons this can happen:
- The footballer you're thinking of isn't yet in our database (we're always expanding it)
- One of your answers may not have matched how we've tagged that player's attributes
- Some players have very similar profiles, so an early "Probably" or "Don't know" answer can sometimes send the game down the wrong path

How many footballers does Anubis know? We started with over 200 footballers spanning multiple decades, leagues, and continents, and we're continuously adding more.
Will you add more footballers, including women's football? Yes — expanding the database, including adding women's football, is part of our ongoing roadmap. Suggestions are always welcome via our Contact page.
Technical Questions
Do I need to create an account to play? No. You can play immediately with no sign-up, no email, and no personal information required.
Does the game work on mobile? Yes, Anubis Knows: Footballers is designed to work smoothly on both desktop and mobile browsers.
